To achieve pagerank you must get links pointing to your site. This can be very difficult in the beginning when you have no pagerank on your pages to offer. The quality of the links you achieve also make a big difference to your pagerank, a link from a web site page that has very low pagerank and over 50 outbound links will basically give you nothing.

Tips for Achieving Pagerank

If you want to maximise your chances of gaining good pagerank on your website you should take the following tips:

• Request links from websites with similar content to that of your site
• Only request links from pages with a pagerank of 3 or above
  (once you have higher pagerank it will be easier to obtain links from other pages with higher pagerank)
• Do not add your site on "link farms" which have thousands of links per page and don't always have any pagerank to offer in the first place
• Only request links from pages with 50 outbound links or less (Google only recognise 50 links on any one page so pages with any more than 50 links will not pass pagerank to your site)
• Keep track of how many non-reciprocal links your have on your website, you don't want to be passing out more pagerank than you are pulling in
